Vertical farming redefined
In December 2014, we had a thought; why are we importing vegetables during the Norwegian winter and how can we start producing them all year round?
This was the beginning of 14 months of research, planning and sleepless nights for founder, Julian Ruiz. Eventually, with the help of friends, community and sponsors, Ygdrasyl Project was born.
The concept is simple: Ygdrasyl is a building with the ability to grow food and create energy all year – no matter the weather – with zero carbon emissions. Ygdrasyl can and will, do this.
The current world population of 7.4 billion is projected to reach 9.6 billion by 2050, according to United Nations reports. We aim to utilize and build upon vertical farming techniques to help support the needs of an expanding community. It is important to find local and sustainable solutions and we at Ygdrasyl hope to play a large role in facilitating these solutions.
Gathering a team of passionate and creative people, we have grown a focused network, dedicated to making Ygdrasyl a reality in the foreseeable future.
We see global potential for a positive transition within the agricultural and energy sectors. We aim to be a leader in developing vertical farms and sustainable practices worldwide.
WHAT’S OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE?
Ultimately, Ygdrasyl’s vision is to provide communities with sustainable food and clean energy on a global scale.
WHAT MAKES YGDRASYL UNIQUE?
We will combine clean production of food and energy whilst emitting nothing but fresh air. This is all possible with current technology. This makes us very hopeful and excited – our future looks bright.
Our current mission is to construct the world’s first Ygdrasyl and be the catalyst for further vertical farm innovation.
